Letter to Santa

Dear Santa

Can I please have a new art kit and an iphone?  I would also like a 2012 diary.  And 2 packets of chocolate coins please!  I would share 1 packet of chocolate with my dad and my brother!  I love chocolate!  Don't you!?

From Tess!

The sun shone on Saturday which shouldn't cause such a stir but with the weather we've been having it was worthy of celebration!  We took the kids down to the beach to make the most of the sun - the sea is a bit nippy but they enjoyed it none the less and did some excellent boogie boarding.

We've developed a family tradition (don't you love traditions - I always feel they're a bit like glue sticking pieces together - christmas + family + lollies + fun) of decorating a gingerbread house together after I've had my control freak fix of gingerbread housing with my girlfriends (it's not possible to rearrange the lollies on a gingerbread house once in place unlike the christmas tree where I can let them do their worst and "fix" it up later).  You may think the house looks laden with lollies but I'm pretty sure more ended up in 2 little mouths.

Santa came to visit nippers on Sunday morning arriving by boat with his reindeer beach babes - not sure how politically correct all of that is but the kids loved it.  Jules headed off early for a Christmas sail in which they came 3rd perhaps aided by the bucks fizz that Emma provided and the Santa hats that they wore.

Sunday afternoon was Tess' first piano concert.  Tess' piano teacher, Wendy, suggested that Tess might like me to play the left hand to Deck the Halls but Tess politely refused.  The concert was a joy and made us feel very Christmassy - each child played a carol and 2 other pieces.  They played the carol first on their own and then we were allowed to join in and sing whilst they played it again - it was wonderful to see these 6 to 9 year olds playing the piano so confidently.  Wendy's husband dressed up as Santa and presided over the concert in a special chair and once the music had finished he handed out gifts.  We sat on spindly chairs and minded our p's and q's - thank goodness Tom was at the Mennies.
