Oompah Loompahs or slaves.....

...and what really is the difference between them?  Can you tell I've spent some considerable time recently listening to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory?

A familiar refrain from Tom is "why do I have to do everything around here?".  It was Father's day today and Tom almost managed to give Jules a coupon to be "King for a Day" but chickened out last minute.  Instead Jules went sailing and the kids and I did some spring cleaning.  Tess did the most amazing job on my car cleaning it thoroughly inside and out.  Can you see Tom (or at least a part of him) in the photo above?  After all our hard work we headed down to Manly (together with about 10,000 other people) to have a quick dip in the ocean and an ice cream.

On Friday Tess had the District Carnival for which she had qualified in the 100 m sprint during the school athletics carnival.  We spent every morning during the week up at Tania Park doing sprinting races and I am very happy to admit that there was nothing I could do to beat Tess and that was with her giving me a 20m head start!  After a particularly frustrating morning for me I measured our legs and found that hers are only about 10cm shorter and imagine how much lighter she is - no wonder she's so fast!!  It was a beautifully sunny day on Friday and there were thousands of kids everywhere with a lot of them looking very professional in "skins" and stud boots.  Tess did an excellent job but had a dodgy start and came last in her race which she was devastated by as she was worried that she'd let down the school.  Fortunately an ice block went a long way to making her feel better and after a fun evening at a friend's house (for her and for me!) everything was back to normal.

I'm showig James and Olivia these photos - they swear they're the only ones that have to help around the house (and I'm useless at cleaning windows so guess what they're going to be doing next weekend).
