The kids finally found out their teachers on Monday. Tess has Mrs Kerr and she is very happy - "Mummy, I think I'm going to have a great year". Tom has Miss Park and his comment was - "I need a stricter teacher. I need someone who's really clear about what I need to do". I think he'll have a good year too - she is young and enthusiastic and is apparently good at bringing the best out of the kids and Tom doesn't misbehave at school so I don't know why he thinks he needs someone strict.
The kids started water polo this term. The downside is that it's on a Friday night - Tess' game started at 8.50pm!! The upside is that it's the most fun I've had on a Friday night without a glass of wine. The girls got smashed but they were all awesome and really enjoyed themselves. It will be so good for their fitness. Tom's version is called Flippa ball and they are just learning the basics so it's not competitive for them and he has a good number of friends doing it with him so they'll all have a lot of fun splashing about in the water. Here's Tess modelling the special hats they have to wear.
We keep trying to limit the number of activities that the kids do but they are so lucky to have so many opportunities that it's hard. This term Tess is doing: tennis, clarinet, drama, swimming, piano, singing, water polo and surfing. Tom is doing: tennis, saxophone, swimming, surfing, guitar, futsal, flippa ball and nippers. It's quite hard trying to keep up with where we're meant to be when.
The renovation is going well with the framing up for the front rooms downstairs - they all have big sliding doors which will open onto a deck overlooking the pool and garden. We had a major blow out with the retaining wall which is a sorry story I won't go into but apart from that it's going well and I really trust our builder.
