2 things

Australia is shockingly backwards in terms of recognising the rights of the LGBTI community and the politicians have argued for years about whether same sex couples should be allowed to marry.  The prime minister, Malcolm Turnbull, made an election promise that he would hold a vote to solve the issue and that time has finally come.  In the bubble where I live it seems like such a non-issue - our children don't understand why we need to have a vote and I can safely say I know only 1 person who will vote against same sex marriage.  I was excited that our postal vote forms arrived before we head off to Hawaii this evening and I felt quite emotional filling it in.  Fingers crossed for a fair outcome.

At the annual Pittwater House Sports Award evening Tom received an award for Surfing which he was very proud of.  He is very lucky to be able to surf with his school and to get recognition for the effort he puts into it.

That's it.  We're off to the airport in 50 minutes.  The next post will be full of beaches and palm trees!
