Tom was away on school camp this week and, although we missed him, it meant a break for me from endlessly driving around the northern beaches. Tess and I got into a lovely rhythm of me driving her to school in the morning and often picking her up in the afternoon, having afternoon tea, chatting, listening to her music practice. We even persuaded Tess to have dinner out in Manly with us which she did relatively willingly. Tess admitted that she hadn't been looking forward to Tom being away but actually ended up really enjoying the week. I feel guilty about not being around more for her but at this stage Tom is the one with the busy schedule and sadly he can't get himself to his activities. However, I this week was a good reminder that I need to make myself more available to Tess whenever possible and I love spending time with her.
Still not too old to climb trees!
Tom got back from camp at 6.30pm on Friday evening and I immediately whisked him and a couple of his friends to their water polo competition. They were filthy and obviously ignored my request to shower before getting in the pool. The game was a testament to their fitness because although they were tired and hadn't eaten properly (they were supposed to cook their own meals over a camp fire but there was a total fire ban so could only eat the food cold!) they easily out-swam the other team.
Stephen arrived on Friday afternoon and he and Jules had a lovely twilight sail. His trips are a lot less frequent since he's changed audit clients so we make the most of every minute.
