Welcome to Sydney

My brother, Robert, arrived in Sydney on Friday after a week with my aunt and cousins over in Perth and his girlfriend, Kat, arrived on Saturday.  Kat has never been to Australia before so we decided to show it off in style with a trip out on the speedboat.  The weather was kind to us (it has been very variable lately) and we went cruising up the harbour looking at the Opera House, Harbour Bridge and did a quick tour around CYC to look at the yachts preparing for the Sydney Hobart that starts on the 26th.  In the afternoon our good friends Mark and Caroline with their 3 under 3 - Ruby, Herbie and Iris - came round for dinner.  Kat acquitted herself excellently with baby helping duties and I think it provided a nice break for Mark and Caroline to not constantly be holding a baby.

In other news, Tess had her kindy christmas party on Friday which was a great success.  I've included a photo of her with her 2 best friends Maddy and Zoe.  It was quite incredible because Santa made an appearance at the party to hand out presents.  Maddy got hers first and sat down an waited, Zoe then got hers and sat down and waited.  Finally Tess got given her present and once she had sat down the 3 girls opened their presents together - that would never have happened if they had been boys!

I have attached one more photo of the kitchen which I think captures it a little better and we're very excited that our pool is finally fully fenced which means the children can, for the first time, use the garden without supervision.  I don't know for how long I'm going to be happy about them using the garden as the first game they invented was to race on their bikes down the steep, bumpy hill and stop precariously close to a 3ft drop.  Jules then further enhanced the game by putting down the trestle table so that they could race from the first 3ft drop to the next 3 ft drop.  Once at the bottom of the garden they play being stuck on their "quad bikes" - wonder where they got that idea from!

This will be the last blog post before Christmas so we wish all of you a very Happy Christmas!
