Christmas Prep

It's been a busy week doing final preparations before the Whomsleys arrive and we're all getting very excited as we can now count the number of sleeps on one hand! I took myself out of my comfort zone on Tuesday and went gingerbread housing with a group of friends. I was actually quite pleased with my results although the first thing Tess said was "yippee, it's got candy cane on it" which although true shows she failed to notice my clever use of the candy cane to make a door!

On Thursday our friend Steve arrived from the UK to stay with us for 4 days before going up to Byron Bay for a week. It has been so much fun having him here and has heralded the start of Christmas for us. On Friday Tess stayed home and Steve and I took the kids down to Little Manly beach which was packed as the weather was glorious. Jules and Steve did the twilight in the evening and we all stayed up drinking too much wine until late in the evening.

Saturday was another glorious day and Jules and Steve took the kids out on the speed boat. They were gone for the entire day but had a wonderful time going to the fish markets to pick up supplies and then anchoring off Castle Beach where they bumped into the Reids. I unfortunately had a whole load of chores to do so I wasn't able to join them but I did appreciate the hours I had on my own at home able to sort out rooms etc. They finally got back at 6pm and we got rather heavily stuck into the Moscow Mules - a bottle of vodka later........ as you can see from the photo of the 2 boys it wasn't pretty!

On Sunday we had Christmas lunch at the Jamos which turned into turkey sandwiches for dinner at the Jamos too. I think they were relieved when we finally left at 7.30pm.

I'm getting a little concerned about the kid's religious education. We were having a conversation about Yoda in Star Wars - the kids have never seen Star Wars although Tom has a Yoda t-shirt and Tess seems to know an incredible amount about him. The conversation went a bit like this:
Tom: Yoda dies
Tess: But he comes back from the dead to help all the good people
Jules: Yes, a bit like Jesus did

Jules looks absolutely bladdered in this shot. Has he been crying?
