Where's Wally?

We've all just come home from an afternoon Treasure Hunt which was organised as a school fundraiser. It involved walking all around Balgowlah Heights, answering questions, looking for Wally and picking up various items. It was organised by our friend Emma and she did a fabulous job as she always does with games. What was particularly good about it was that it got a large number of the school walking around the suburb, bumping into each, chatting and generally feeling part of a community. The sun shone and once we had tuned out the kids whinging ("my legs hurt", "it's taking a long time", "when can we finish") we had a lovely time.

It was our 10th wedding anniversary on Thursday and we treated ourselves to dinner at Manly Pavilion which is new fancy restaurant that opened up about 3 months ago. It has amazing views over Manly harbour and the food is pretty good too - we had the degustation menu which is always my favourite way to eat and my top dish was one of the starters which was mozzarella drizzled with olive oil and lightly grilled on a lemon leaf - yum.

Tom and I went to the zoo on Friday with Leanne, Charlie, Alayne and Isabelle. It's been a long time since we were there and Tom had a ball running around. We went to the seal show (Tom won't let us go to the zoo without seeing it) and got front row seats which the kids were thrilled with particularly as they kept getting splashed by the seals. The highlight of the trip was going to the kids zoo and seeing 2 beautiful sheepdogs herding up the sheep - Tom spent about 30 minutes watching them and was delighted when at the end the sheep started following us back to their pen so we herded them in and shut the door!

It was Tom's last soccer game of the season on Saturday which is a huge relief as we're both fed up with the argument we have every Saturday morning firstly getting him to soccer and secondly getting him onto the pitch. We managed to get him on the pitch in the first half but he stood stubbornly in the middle of the pitch scuffing the dirt with his shoe! In the second half Jules reffed the game and it would appear to be what is needed to motivate Tom as he was then brilliant, almost scoring a goal and getting awarded a trophy!! It's been a week of trophies for Tom as he got awarded Star of the Week at kindy - who would have thought?!
