The piano arrives

Friday was the big day when the new piano arrived. Getting it into position was a hairy affair with the removalists unimpressed because they had been told there were 5 steps when there are closer to 20 and then finding that all the obvious ways to get the piano downstairs didn't work because the access was too small. After about 45 minutes and 2 false starts the piano was finally in place - I haven't stopped playing it since - it has an amazing sound and I just love playing. I am encouraged by how much I remember (well, my fingers remember) and I'm fully fired up to get my Grade 8. It will take a few years but it's something to aim for. Tess is also really enjoying the new piano and we've done 2 lessons this weekend at her request.

It's been all things musical this week with us going to see Band of Horses in concert with our friends John and Leanne. The concert was at the Enmore which is a small theatre in the Inner West and is a really intimate gig so you're never too far from the stage and you feel part of the performance. I drank far too much but enjoyed myself enormously!

We've had lots and lots of rain recently so we took the kids up to Tania Park on Saturday to ride through the puddles on their bikes - Tom was in his element as he is happiest when covered in mud. On Sunday we took a punt on doing the longest bush walk we've ever done with the kids starting at Davis Marina and walking round to Clontarf which is a distance of approx 6 kms. They both did really well with little complaining much helped by the fact they were both wearing gum boots so could splash in every puddle they came across - more mud!

Tess is showing a real interest in cooking following Masterchef so she helped me make lasagne this afternoon and did an amazing job firstly with chopping the celery and secondly in making the bechemal sauce - it was fantastically creamy and not a lump in sight.
