| Feeding the cows |
The best anti-dote to coming back from a Fiji holiday is a weekend at the farm and as usual we had an excellent time.
We arrived Friday afternoon to glorious clear skies but much cooler temperatures than Sydney which was all the excuse we needed to get a couple of fires roaring. We woke on Saturday morning to find a soft drizzle had set in for the day occasionally becoming a heavy shower but it did not matter one bit. I think I've mentioned before that each time we go up to the farm we see less and less of the children as they disappear off to play their favourite games, destroy ant nests, bike ride, tow each other on the go-cart, search for foxes, explore the pine forest - all the things we want them to do and which makes the most of having this amazing space to run around in. The rain didn't stop them from doing any of those things - they put on rain coats and gum boots and carried on with their games. If they got too wet they came back to the farm house to dry off in front of the fire for a while and grab a piece of cake before they disappeared off again. Eventually when it was beginning to get dark they came in and played snakes and ladders happily together for a good hour whilst we cooked dinner.
The weather was again beautiful on Sunday morning and we all spent lots of time outdoors feeding the cows, going on long walks, quad-biking, collecting fire wood and kindling. Craig got up on the roof to clean out the gutters - I think he likes climbing about on the roof because he does this almost every time we're up there! I asked Tess and Tom what their highlights were from this weekend - for Tess it was playing snakes and ladders and for Tom it was playing in the go-cart that Craig, Michael and Jules built them a couple of years ago. They have no idea how lucky they are.
