Bula!

I'm not sure why it's taken me so long to blog about our Fiji trip to Castaway Island - possibly because it's cold and wet here and I can't bear to think of the beautiful weather we had whilst on holiday or possibly because not blogging about it means I haven't finished with that chapter yet and so the memory stays closer to me.  However, I have to let go so here are some photos and highlights:

  • meeting the Johnsen family and spending seven fun filled days with them
  • waking every morning to beautiful sunshine and breakfast overlooking the ocean
  • hermit crabbing and building sand cities for the crabs (this involved no adult participation and therefore was very peaceful for us!)
  • swimming in crystal clear, gloriously warm water
  • twilight fishing whilst the sun set
  • amazing food including some of the best Cantonese food I've ever tasted
  • a trip to Modriki Island where Castaway was filmed - complete with our own "Wilson"
  • discovering that Tom likes lobster almost as much as I do (actually I'm not sure this was a highlight as it meant I had to share my precious lobster!)
  • Fiji "babies" served by our favourite waitress Liku and drinking said "babies" at almost any hour of the day or night
  • a trip on a very fast speedboat to see Cloud Break - one of the top 10 surf breaks in the world
  • endless games of Uno whilst waiting for our pizzas to be made in the Sundowner Bar
  • a remarkably fun game of tennis for the 4 of us
  • mocktails and cocktails in the Sundowner Bar watching the amazing sunsets
  • Tom and Jules snorkelling with a shark on our last day

Looks gorgeous, guys. It's brilliant when you meet another family too. When we were kids, our parents would always meet a couple whose kids we loved and that would be us all set for the holiday. Just think if Tom hadn't broken his arm, you never would have met your new friends. Xx
