Tom starts rugby

One of the things Tom has been most looking forward to since his arm has healed is playing rugby.  It was a cold but beautiful evening on Friday when we took him to rugby training and Tom loved every second of it.  In the car on the way home he chattered non-stop about the throwing, catching, tries etc so it was a very excited Tom who woke up on Saturday morning ready for his first match.  The sun was shining, the rugby field was local, his rugby shirt looked almost like an All Black shirt - all the conditions were perfect for a good game.  And it was a good game - Tom has a bit of learning to do about only ever passing backwards and not being off side but on the whole he got it and most importantly he loved it.  At the end of the match he was awarded the Man of the Match medal much to his delight (I think the coach wanted to make him feel welcome!).

The other thing that Tom has been desperate to do is get back on his skateboard so I took him back to Gromtown for a one-off lesson on Tuesday afternoon.  He was a little tentative but he was so obviously delighted to be back on a board it was a pleasure to watch.

The kids and I have started off the school holidays how we mean to continue with 7 of their friends round for a play today.  The main reason we had so many kids was because their fathers were sailing with Jules and I'd invited the mums round for lunch.  We all had a lovely time with the girls and boys playing beautifully whilst us mums cooked, drank wine and nattered - a perfect Sunday afternoon!

Look at our surprise visitor - we've had a number of pool visitors but never a duck - I'm not sure chlorine is particularly healthy for them?!
