Ukelele King

We've been revelling in the gloriously warm weather - every door and window has been open and we've even had to dig out some spring-like clothing.  The kids insisted on swimming (we insisted on wetsuits) and we had a wonderful couple of hours down at Manly beach.

Jules' birthday celebrations continued with the Wakes-Millers coming round for dinner.  They've just spent 6 weeks in the UK so we were able to catch up on family news and Bella brought us lots of photos to look at.  Jules was delighted with the Ukelele that the W-M's gave him for his birthday.  We've spent many an evening with Bella strumming and singing (beautifully) on hers and Jules had bought himself a cheap one which just didn't cut the mustard.  Bels brought hers round and shared a few key tips with Jules since then it's a fight between Jules, Tess and Tom as to whose go it is.

Robert was, very unusually, at a loose end on Saturday night so although originally invited for lunch he ended up staying for the afternoon and evening.  The two of us had a lovely afternoon because as I pottered around the kitchen he found these amazing albums that we had listened to endlessly whilst driving to the South of France and back when we were kids.  It was a real trip down memory lane and made the two of us feel a little emotional.  The albums are the stories of composers lives set to the music that they composed - if you're interested they're by a lady called Ann Rachlin and can be found on iTunes - and we both believe they are responsible for our love of classical music.  I can't wait to share them with Tess and Tom on our trips to the farm.
