Tom's birthday party

This is going to be a short post as we're all a bit tired at the moment.  It's been a busy week for all of us with some minor house renovations (our bedroom door has been moved which might sound like a small change but has already made a huge difference) and the annual school disco.  To top it all Tom has decided to start having night terrors which means Jules and I spend a large part of each night being woken up by him and trying to persuade him to go back to bed.

On Sunday we had Tom's 7th birthday party at a nearby gymnastics centre for 21 of his friends.  It was a great venue and the kids had a ball running around, bouncing on trampolines, swinging from ropes and playing hide and seek.  He got the most amazing presents as 14 of his friends clubbed together and bought him enough Lego sets to keep us going until at least July next year!

Jules and I had been out the night before at our neighbours which for the kids was an exciting evening because we left them at home on their own.  Before eyebrows get raised too high the kids could call over the balcony to us next door and I had my mobile with me at all times.  We did get a call from Tess at 10pm because Tom was struggling to get to sleep without a goodnight kiss so I was able to nip home, settle him and get back to the party.  It was a lovely evening and finished at about 12.30 which is well and truly past my bedtime!!
