Performing Arts

We've had a week full of band and drama.  Tess is in the school drama group and on Thursday they gave 2 performances at NIDA (the australian equivalent of RADA) as part of the ArtsNorth Festival of Drama.  The play was called Colours and was allegedly about the colours of bullying but I have to admit that it was a bit lost on me.  However, Tess loved performing on a big stage and she spoke loudly and clearly so I felt she'd done well.
Concert Band - Tess is 3rd row, 2nd from left
Junior Band - Tom is top row, 5th from left

Sunday was devoted to the NSW Band Festival with Tom needing to be over the other side of town at 8.15am (on a Sunday and after a 7.30am start the day before...........) and Tess needing to be there at 1.30pm.  Fortunately I had enough time to get back home and swap children rather than both of them having to sit through thousands of band performances.  Both bands performed brilliantly and I'm glad to say that that's it in terms of festivals/competitions for the year.

Netball and rugby were played in the pouring rain on Saturday - I can't actually remember the last time I got that wet.  Tess and I were due to play tennis straight afterwards but sadly we had to cancel. Instead Robert borrowed the children so that he could go and see How to Train a Dragon 2 which gave Jules a chance to have a little nap on the sofa to celebrate his birthday.  He must be getting old........!  In the evening we had a birthday dinner with Robert and the kids at a lovely little Mexican restaurant in Narrabeen.  It was a huge hit with everyone and we will be going back soon.

Tom stretching
Tom and I discovered we had a free afternoon on Tuesday.  The sun was shining and the waves were pumping so we headed down to Manly for a quick surf.  Tom ran down to the beach with his surf board, stopped, put it down and started doing some stretches whilst assessing the surf conditions.  He's clearly learning something in surf training!
