Robert, Caroline and Tom for Christmas

Looking Christmassy
Robert and Caroline arrived on the morning of the 23rd from the UK and Big Tom flew in from Melbourne that evening.  The table tennis table was put up and stayed up for the rest of the time the "big kids" were here.  Endless rounds of extremely fierce table tennis were played and Tess and Tom seriously improved their skills!
The start of the Table Tennis Wars

The weather wasn't great (it never is when Caroline is here!) but we still went down to the beach on Christmas Day as is tradition.  I attempted to do the Manly Surf Club swim and ended up being helped in by some kind strangers.  The swell was quite large and I freaked out the moment I could see fish swimming beneath me.  I may not be cut out for ocean swimming.

Our equivalent of a Christmas jumper
We had a traditional christmas day with champagne and smoked salmon bites prepared by Robert for present opening and then a turducken with bread sauce, brussel sprouts, parsnips, roast potatoes, carrots, peas and gravy.  Luckily a lot more fierce table tennis helped us burn off some of the excess.
 Finally some beach action
Big Tom, Little Tom and Robert - will Little Tom overtake them one day?

The weather improved a little after Christmas and once Robert and Caroline flew out to NZ it was glorious for a whole week!  We took our "staycation" seriously and went to the beach everyday, ate out regularly for lunch and dinner and did very little tidying/cleaning around the house.  It was fantastic.

New Year's Eve was spent at 40 Baskets beach with most of Balgowlah Heights.  We barely saw the kids as they had so many friends to play with.  The fireworks were at 9pm and then we all toddled off to bed.
