Fin chop

Jules and I were walking the dog at North Curl Curl whilst Tom had a surf.  We decided I should move the car to a different car park and as I was walking along the beach to the car I saw Tom walking towards me with another surfer carrying his board looking like this:

It was very windy, Tom had come off his board and the wind had picked it up and landed it on the middle of Tom's head where one of the fins pierced his head.  A very kind surfer paddled over to him and helped him out of the water although by the time I got to him he was in fine spirits and just felt a little silly about the fin chop - the second in as many days!  We took him to the lifeguards who poured antiseptic lotion on his head and that was that.  I reckon the other surfer was wise to get out of the water too - I'd be scared of "men in grey suits" with that much blood around!

We are off on a hiking holiday in Tasmania next week.  Tess is severely unimpressed with the idea of this holiday and keeps asking us why we think it's a good idea.  We're going with the Rivers so personally I think she's lucky to have her friend Ruby to talk to rather than just us!  It takes 4 days, 3 nights and we have to carry everything in and out with us.  I have been in intense planning mode for quite some weeks particularly around the food.  We had a trial run of packing the bags and can only just fit everything in.  Tess sent the following picture to Ruby:

A lot of people recommended taking a small tipple for the evenings as we have a fair amount of time once we get into camp each night.  As part of my extensive research I discovered that wine now comes in 250ml cans and it's quite decent wine - sorted!

We got Tess' school photo this week.  She thinks she looks younger than she did 2 years ago.  I think she looks gorgeous - I love her little wispy bits of hair.
