Junior Club Captain

Each year a boy and a girl from the U14 age group are chosen to be the Junior Club Captains of Manly Surf Lifesaving Club.  They do a speech to the existing U14s and a number of senior club members and a vote is held to determine who will be captain.  Jules and I both missed the opportunity to nominate Tom for the position but luckily one of the age co-ordinators phoned us on Sunday morning and asked Tom if he would like to do a speech regardless of not having nominated.  Neither Jules nor I were there to hear the speech but apparently it was very good and would have made me cry and it resulted in Tom being voted the male Junior Club Captain - such an honour!  Tia, who Tom has known since kindergarten, was voted as female Junior Club Captain.  I'm not too sure what all this entails but I think they're meant to represent the club at formal occasions and help support and encourage the more junior nippers.

I arrived back from the UK on Monday evening and Robert and Caroline arrived on Friday morning.  I was worried that I'd be overwhelmed and would need more time to settle back after being away for 3 weeks but I forgot how much we love having guests and they are very easy ones - feed Robert lasagne and he is happy!!  Caroline is 28 weeks pregnant so this is a bit of a baby moon before the baby arrives in January.

We were due to go to Hugo's on Saturday evening but England made the semi-finals of the Rugby World Cup so we had to stay in to watch their game against New Zealand.  It was nail-biting and incredibly England won.  Jules and Robert were jumping for joy!

Tom had his first surf patrol on Sunday morning with Jules so Robert, Caroline and I sat on the beach for a while and watched them in action.

On Sunday evening we went to Chica Bonita for dinner - it was on Robert's to-do-list and is a favourite of the whole family.
