Covid-19

The world has gone mad.  A new type of coronavirus was discovered in China back in January and it has been identified as highly contagious.  People (Governments and the WHO) are talking about a potential pandemic.  The media have jumped hard on this band wagon and are not letting go.  From my perspective it appears that the people most at risk are pensioners so if we could all hurry up and get the virus life might return to normal!  Schools are shutting down, businesses are separating departments and having 50% of staff work from home on a 2 week rotation, flights are being cancelled and to top it all panic buying has hit the supermarkets with toilet paper being the most precious commodity followed by pasta and rice.  Thank goodness I bought my usual stock of toilet paper before the madness hit so we're probably ok until this weekend and then we might start facing a problem.......! We are due to fly to the Maldives in April, transiting through Singapore.  Tess and Tom's schools have asked for travel details and are currently suggesting that if we go we may have to quarantine Tess and Tom at home for 2 weeks following our return.  Tom thinks that sounds like a great idea but Tess is not as keen!  If this was a film people would find it ridiculous.....

For the first time in her Queenwood career Tess was chosen to represent the school in the U18 breaststroke at the next level of school competition.  She was very proud of her "sport representative" t-shirt that she got given.
I have had a lovely weekend which has felt like a weekend away whilst being at home!  Julia came up from Melbourne for a long weekend and we hung out with Lisa doing lots of fun things which mainly involved either walking, shopping or eating.  We had dinner at Hugo's on Friday night which involved 3 bottles of wine and not much food.  I was very grateful for my Recoverthol so I didn't feel quite as bad on Saturday morning.  We had a long walk on Saturday followed by lunch in Manly (hot chips were needed to recover from the night before).  On Saturday evening Julia headed to the Opera House because Jules and I were out with the Christensen's, Rivers and Burgess Watts.  It's been a while since the 8 of us had a chance to catch up and we had a wonderful evening - I drank spritzers.........  On Sunday Julia and I wandered around Chatswood for a bit of retail therapy that also included dumplings - yum - and in the evening we went to the Mennies for homemade pizza.  Lisa, Julia and I attempted another walk over in Bondi on Monday but it was cold and wet so we scurried back to the Northern Beaches and ended up having an amazing lunch at a Trattoria type place in Mosman.  I'm now going on a detox for the rest of the week!
This is the only photo I took all weekend but it sums it up rather nicely!
