Thank goodness for the farm

We've just had our first week of everyone working/schooling from home.  I have to admit that I love having everyone around and am surprised at how busy I am.  I think everyone coming out for morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea at different times keeps me busy with preparing food and then clearing up - so much clearing up! Thank goodness I love pottering in the kitchen and I'm enjoying having more time to cook which allows me to try different recipes that I wouldn't normally have time to do during the week.  And of course all my kitchen gadgets are getting a good workout - happy days :)  Tom is really enjoying online learning and is maintaining his enthusiasm and seems to have a good work ethic.  Tess is enjoying being at home but is struggling with some of her online lessons and maintaining concentration.  Her Maths and Chemistry teachers are both foreign and in their late fifties/sixties and she says they are struggling with adapting to the online learning environment.  Overall though I have been incredibly impressed with both schools and their ability to continue teaching in this totally new environment.

Jules' friend, Josh, was supposed to be with us this weekend and Jules had planned to take him up to the farm.  Obviously, due to the virus Josh wasn't able to come but we persuaded the Mennies to come up to the farm with us instead.  It was such a relief to get away from the constant media and craziness going on in the world at the moment.  We made sure that we took everything we needed with us for the weekend - no trips into the local villages as we didn't feel that was in keeping with the social distancing we're being asked to practice.  Sadly we couldn't persuade Tess to come as she had a big maths test on Monday and needed access to the internet to be able to revise.  She stayed the nights with her friend Kate and travelled to our house and back using an Uber - I wouldn't let her take public transport because kids are known to be "carriers" so I think they need to be kept away from the public.  Not sure an Uber is much better but I couldn't come up with a better option.

I felt this was an appropriate drop at the moment!

Oka was anti-fouled during the week so that was a nice walk down to the marina for Jules, Ted and myself to inspect her up on the slips.
