Thank goodness for the Olympics 2020

I haven't posted for 2 weeks because frankly, we're in lockdown, and nothing much is happening! I love me a lockdown but this one does seem to be dragging on a little bit.

The Olympics are being held in Tokyo which means the the times of all the events work well for us in Australia and we've been kept buoyed by the successes of our Australian athletes - our most successful Olympics ever I believe.

My work have been organising a few fun things for us to do via Teams to keep everyone's spirits up. I received wine and nibbles one week and cupcakes the next.

Lisa delivered the most awesome present. Gladys Berijiklian is the NSW Premier and she fronts up every morning at 11am to tell us the woeful statistics from the previous 24 hours and to announce further lockdown measures etc etc.

On Friday night we spent a lovely evening in the backyard by the fire.

Jules is getting his LandCruiser refurbished. He found this amazing guy called Tony who is a true artisan and gets as excited as Jules does about refurbishing the cruiser. Jules popped down to the workshop on Saturday to have a little peek.

The boys decided to get in on the Saturday afternoon cocktail walk that the girls and I have been doing religiously for the past 4 weeks.

LtoR: Jules, Sheldon, Tony, Mike, Damian, Pete

And that's a snapshot of our life at the moment. It's the kids I feel sorry for - they should be out and about catching up with friends, getting into mischief, having fun. Tess is in her HSC year and the amount of uncertainty around exams, finishing school etc is incredibly demotivating and unsettling. As her school Principal said: "the girls are getting all the bad things about Year 12 (i.e. the exams) without the fun stuff." Jules and I had our first Pfizer jab on Tuesday and will be fully vaccinated by the end of August. We were both ridiculously excited going to the doctor as we felt like we were doing our civic duty, our little bit to support the "war"! Fingers crossed it ends soon.
