The Gidneys have arrived!!!

I picked The Gidney's up from the airport on Friday morning after 24 hours of travelling with an almost 3 year old and a 6 month old. Apparently the leg to Singapore was easy but from there it was downhill with neither boy sleeping a wink and both of them spending time crying to the extent that it was commented on by other passengers! I found them to be in fairly good shape and Robert was delighted to have Turkish bread toast for his first meal back in Australia! They are staying in an AirBnb in Manly for the first week getting over the jet lag without disturbing us which is very considerate. We met up with them on Saturday morning for a stroll around Manly followed by lunch at Chica Bonita.

In the evening we had a bbq at our place where George had a new toy - a sticky man who is supposed to "climb" down walls. Some clever clogs (Tess) threw him up on the ceiling and he got stuck. We tried to knock him down to no avail - we're placing bets to see when he'll fall off but it doesn't look to me like he's going to budge anytime soon. We've managed to source a ping pong table so that got a work out too.

The weather was fabulous on Sunday so we spent the morning at the beach getting George used to the sea and building endless sandcastles. In the late afternoon we headed to the skiff club for an early dinner.

Tom had an amazing time on his Duke of Ed expedition. He kayaked down an illegal part of the Snowy River called "The Pinch" (in the photo below). It's illegal because it's considered to be very dangerous but mentioning that to a 17 year old is like a red rag to a bull! He was very very proud of himself for navigating The Pinch successfully. Sadly he wasn't quite as successful with his plans to catch fish for dinner.

Wondering why the fish aren't biting
