St Remy de Provence with the McPhersons and the Whomsleys

We flew from Seville to Marseille, picked up a large car and headed to St Remy to spend a week with Jules' family. We hired an amazing house with a swimming pool and we were incredibly lucky with the weather which was a balmy 21C most days. We arrived on the afternoon of Easter Saturday so our first task was to head to the supermarket for provisions for the next couple of days. It was such a pleasure to shop in a French supermarket - it is impossible to eat badly in that country!

On Easter Sunday we went to the local church for Mass. It was very busy and the communion took ages but it was wonderful to be part of it.

We did a day trip to Les Baux de Provence. We were sensible on the way there and Jules did 2 trips to ferry everyone over but on the way back we decided to put John, Andy and Sam in the boot which was a bit naughty but far more practical!

The mental asylum that Van Gogh took himself to was a short walk away from the house.

Some of us did a day trip to Avignon to see Le Pont. We were there during a demonstration against Macron who was trying to get the retirement age increased from 62 to 64 years (he succeeded!).

The rest of the time we spent at the amazing house eating, drinking, lounging by the pool and occasionally wandering into town for baguettes and provisions.

We sorely missed Tess and Tom - the only 2 grandkids not there. Hopefully we can do it again at some stage with everyone.
