May and June 2023

I couldn't let the Coronation pass without having the girls round to celebrate. I bought bunting and plates and napkins when I was back in the UK and I made Coronation quiche. Bec was given a copy of the Order of Service printed on beautiful paper so we were able to follow along at home. Plenty of bubbles were consumed although that's no different to any other get together with the girls...

Tom and Tia went to the Year 12 Queenwood formal. Tom tells me that as far as formals go it was a pretty good one. I think he's lucky to have such a gorgeous friend!

We left the safety of the beaches and had a wonderful lunch for Cath's birthday at Butler

Tess has gone to Europe for a month with 3 friends. They seem to be spending about 6.7 hours in each country and will possibly see more of the inside of trains, buses and planes than anything else! It's been astonishing how, everywhere they go, they bump into other friends from home doing a similar thing. The photo below was taken after an all night music festival in Hvar.

We took Kia Kaha out to look for whales. We went out through the Heads, the wind came up and words were exchanged so we turned around. No whales sighted but on our way back in we were surrounded by a pod of dolphins who played alongside the boat for about 15 minutes - magical.

The Kia crew had planned to sail up to Pittwater, spend the night and sail back down. Sadly the wind had other ideas so they had to make do with a dinner instead.

Fortunately the wind didn't impact on our normal weekend routine which is for Jules to scoot down to Manly and do the Manly to Shelley swim with Bec, Kara and Sheldon. I run down and meet them for coffee after their swim (plus croissants on Sunday!) and then Jules and I scoot back up the hill. We could almost be in Europe if you ignore the woolly hat.

Tom is on the countdown to finishing school - one more term to go and then he takes his High School Certificate in October and November. We don't see him much as he seems to be either surfing or at the library. He released a new song, Into You, on Spotify which is doing really well.

We bought Ted a new bed - it's a special anti-anxiety bed and he wasn't convinced by it to start with.
