A Winter Weekend on the Water

It's been a beautiful weekend and we've spent lots of time on the water soaking up the sun. Tess stayed at Olivia's on Friday/Saturday and we were tempted to get Tom to do a sleepover at the Mennies so that we could have some child-free time but he had an asthma attack so we spent a very sleepless Friday night instead! On Saturday whilst I was cooking dinner Jules took Tom down to Oka to bail her out and check all was well. They took the opportunity to take her out for a little motor and Tom enjoyed skippering the boat himself. We had a lovely evening with the Wakes-Millers who have just sold their house so we needed to drink lots of champagne to celebrate.

On Sunday with more beautiful weather the children asked to go out on the speedboat which we needed to do to check the motor was working properly after so many months of inactivity. In fact it was Tom who said "we need to go on the boat so that mummy can check out all the houses" - a favourite pastime of mine looking at all the beautiful houses that line the waters edge - one day...........! We went to the fish markets for lunch (lobster, sushi and huge ice creams) and then had a little cruise around the harbour whilst the children slept (hooray!). Jules wore his new sailing top that the W-Ms gave him for his birthday - absolutely the perfect gift for him. I had to include the photo of Tom - he's just recently discovered pockets and always walks around with his hands in them - too funny!

We're getting very excited because my brother Robert has got a secondment to Australia with E&Y starting early October. It will be fantastic to have him here and the kids are looking forward to spending lots of time with him - particularly in the swimming pool where he throws them around for hours! It's great for me as it means I'll have some company whilst Jules is off doing the Sydney-Hobart. Roll on October!!
