We are all addicted to Masterchef which is approaching the end of the second season. Jules and I keep trying to watch it in the evenings once the kids have gone to bed but the moment they hear the music they come running downstairs and refuse to go to bed until they've watched it too. I'm glad to see that it's been giving them some inspiration with regards to food presentation! The other current addiction in our house is SingStar and we now have Disney, 80s, 90s and Rock. Tom prefers Disney but Tess is particularly keen on 90s with her favourite song being LoveFool by The Cardigans - we have to do 5 songs each night before bath time.
It was Charlie's birthday on Friday and Leanne baked the most amazing pirate ship cake. Charlie and Noah came round to our house and we threw an impromptu party for Charlie with lots of paper chain decorations made by Tess and Tom, balloons, a little treasure hunt and of course some SingStar!
We had a lovely time at Angie and Liam's house on Saturday afternoon with each couple doing a course - John and Leanne did garlic prawns (inspired by the previous night's episode of Masterchef!), Ange did an amazing roast chicken with green chilli coconut gravy (I'll be stealing that recipe) and I made banoffee pie (also inspired by Masterchef). The kids played touch rugby with the boys for an hour before lunch and all had a fantastic time - apparently Tess is very fast on the pitch which is probably due to those long legs of hers. I left the Diggins and went to pick up Lisa to see Eclipse which we have been looking forward to for ages - I probably wouldn't recommend it unless you're a fan but Lisa and I enjoyed ourselves particularly because we went to a very smart cinema which has huge comfy seats and you can drink wine/champagne and eat nibbles whilst watching the movie.
The weather cleared slightly on Saturday morning (it's been raining all week because it's the school holidays) and we took the opportunity to head down to Manly for a quick scooter. Scootering lost it's appeal once the kids discovered lots of crabs hiding on the rocks and Jules and I were able to sit and enjoy a coffee in the sunshine.
