Christmas in July

This might be a slightly disjointed blog as I'm trying to write it at the same time as watching the Masterchef final. We had Christmas in July round at the Jamo's this weekend. The turkey was fantastic but Julia also made a beautiful smoked salmon terrine for starter and a grand marnier souffle for dessert - she's been watching Masterchef too!

Given that Jules' birthday is on Monday we decided to celebrate it on Sunday. Tess helped me make the cake and Jules asked us whether we'd used packet mix - thanks Jules?! Although it was Jules' birthday on Saturday we went shopping and he bought me a piano - I cried for about 2 hours afterwards as I have wanted one for so long. I've recently started teaching Tess and she's doing really well - practising regularly and enjoying it which is the most important thing. The piano should be delivered on Friday so I'm keeping next weekend completely free for me to play!

I took Monday off to spend with the kids as it was the last day of the school holidays. We had a lovely day playing in the park, shopping for Jules birthday presents, eating sushi for lunch and making our own pasta. The kids did an amazing job and Tess' pasta dough was much better than mine.

Tom's had quite a bad asthma attack this weekend which has meant not very much sleep for us as he coughs his way through the nights. I insisted that he still went to soccer on Saturday as he needs to support his team and we also need to work out how to manage his asthma whilst doing sports. He played for about 10 minutes during the second half and did such a great job that he got awarded a trophy - he was very pleased with himself.
