As Okavango Delta's outboard sunk to the bottom of the ocean, she was heading for a collision with a moored motorboat. Michael valiantly held onto the side of the motorboat and started pushing off whilst Craig grabbed a convenient post and pulled in the opposite direction. "I'm committed" yelled Michael as he felt his feet leave the boat and found himself hanging onto the side of the motorboat until his arms failed him and he fell into the water. Meanwhile Jules had dived off the back of Okavango to try and rescue the outboard so Michael swam round to help him and the boys managed to get it back on board all in time to start the race thanks to a larger yacht towing them to the start line as they realised they weren't going to make it on time without the outboard! They actually managed a reasonable time after all that excitement and most importantly all made it back safe and sound.
Tom and I spent Friday at the beach trying out his new surfboard. You may notice from the photos that we went to a beach with no waves but he managed to stand up on it and we'll work up to waves in good time!
Jules was sailing on St Jude on Saturday and the weather started off beautifully but a very strong nor'easter came through in the afternoon and the boat got knocked down 3 times because it was overpowered with its sails - my worst nightmare but great practice for the Sydney-Hobart.
The Jamos flew to Melbourne for the day to try and buy a house down there so between Lisa, Craig and I we looked after their kids as well as ours. I can safely say that everyone had a wonderful day with lots of swimming, playing, movie watching and a gorgeous meal at the Mennies fabulous house with champagne to celebrate a successful auction! Poor Tom was so exhausted that he fell asleep on the sofa and Tess made it a bit further falling asleep on the top stair - you just can't get the parents these days!
Sunday has been a much quieter and wetter day. The long range weather forecast is for 3 days of sunshine out of the next 25 days with 3 days of low rain and the remaining days medium to high rainfall - let's hope they've got it wrong! Jules managed to get the kids to the park for a quick run around whilst I took the opportunity to wrap a few christmas presents - I've never been this organised on the present front but I don't think anyone will be getting cards this year!
