Will it ever stop raining?

We have had the wettest October and November since we've lived here - relentless rain every day and surprisingly cool temperatures. I bumped into an American friend who's lived in Australia about the same time as us and she recounted a conversation with her husband where they were first complaining about the rain but then came to the realisation that perhaps this is normal given that up until this year we've been in a drought. We agreed that although we prefer the drought it's probably not very Australian of us to say so!

Jules had a top crew for the twilight this Friday - Michael, Craig, Rob and Claire - and came 2nd which was impressive given their handicap. It rained the whole time they were out so they came back wet, cold and hungry - just as well I had a huge pot of curry ready to go!

On Sunday we woke up to bright blue skies - we'd forgotten what the sun looked like. I dressed in jeans and a jumper to go to nippers in the morning and was absolutely boiling. Tess tried out her new wetsuit and it seems to have helped as she was persuaded to participate for the full length of nippers and even agreed to participate in the carnival next weekend (she was promised nearly a bag of lolly snakes to convince her!). Tess went to Olivia's for a play and Tom went to Hunter and Fletcher's so Jules had a lovely peaceful time whilst I ran around the shops doing my christmas shopping (yes I know that sounds crazy but our weekends are pretty busy now until December and I hate last minute shopping!). Once Jules had got the kids back they insisted on going in the pool in the nude - the water is about 18 degrees because of all the rain so Jules watched from a safe distance!!
