More guests!

Due to a lack of childcare I had Thursday and Friday off work this week which was a real treat.  Olivia spent the day with us on Thursday and we hung out, swum, played games - it was brilliant!  In the evening we went round to Rob and Claire's house for a delicious dinner.  The kids ate and then watched Kung Fu Panda whilst we sat in the dining room, bathed in the evening sunlight, eating, drinking and chatting - just perfect.

On Friday we went round to Angie's house, as did Leanne and boys, and had a lovely afternoon with the kids swimming for about 3 and a half hours straight whilst we sat, chatted and read interior design magazines.  Tom fell asleep within a minute of getting into the car, we got home and I tried to wake him by transferring him to the sofa outside but he stayed asleep for about 2 hours, completely exhausted from all his swimming!  Whilst Tom was sleeping Andrew and Marianne arrived for the weekend - Tess and Marianne started playing as if they had seen each other yesterday which was wonderful and made it easier for Andrew to go off for the twilight race with Jules.  It was blowing a gale but that, of course, is nothing to a 2-time Sydney-Hobarter!!!!

The weather seemed very overcast on Saturday morning so we hung around the house with the kids playing beautifully and me also playing beautifully with my new KitchenAid - it gives me such joy!  By lunchtime it was beginning to get quite hot and sticky so we went to Pilu Kiosk at Freshwater for takeaway sarnies (mine a beautiful chicken, avocado and tarragon on sourdough bread and the boys had the house special suckling pig which was a bit disappointing due to the excess of mayonnaise but the nutella pastries made up for it!).  The adults were totally unprepared for an afternoon at the beach with only 1 pair of swimmers between us (and they weren't suitable for me!) so we stood in the shallows and shouted at the children to stay between the flags until that all seemed too hard and we came back for some cooling Prosecco!  It was such a humid evening that once the kids had been put to bed the boys went swimming in the pool to cool down.

Sunday saw us at the Mall in the morning as we really did need to get a few chores done.  The kids and Jules had the following conversation after I'd ducked into a store without telling them:
Tess:  Do you think we ought to find Mummy
Jules:  Yes, that's a good idea
Tom:  Right, let's see, what does she look like?
It was such a beautiful afternoon that we headed down to Queenscliff for a play in the surf - it was huge and the kids were happier when I took them to the ocean pool for a swim.  Tom had persuaded us to buy him some toy soldiers whilst at the Mall and he was very happy playing with them until he discovered that they don't float - 1 down for the Greens!
