KPMG are sponsoring the 80ft maxi-yacht Brindabella which is well known in the Sydney-Hobart circuit and so Jules got to spend Friday doing a mini-regatta on her. The weather was beautiful - warm and sunny but with a little wind and Jules had lots of his friends on the boat so everyone had a lovely day. In a bizarre connection, the guy who owns Brindabella used to race J24 and remembers racing against Okavango Delta under her previous owners!
Tom had his first full week at school and from the little I could get out of him I think it went well. However, on Monday afternoon the nanny went to pick Tom up from school and as they were walking down the stairs surrounded by lots of other mums she asked him what the beautiful picture he had drawn was of. He replied: "that's me holding a gun and I've killed the baddy by shooting him in the penis"!!! I can imagine all the mums in the vicinity making a mental note to cross him off the play date list!!
In another classic "Tom" moment we were out to dinner on Thursday and Tom was telling us about the Spanish lessons that he had started at school. We questioned him about this because they don't learn Spanish at school so we were dubious about the accuracy of his story. We established that his teacher was "Sensei" (the school Japanese teacher) but Tom was adamant that she was teaching him Spanish and it was all about to descend into a big argument when who should walk into the restaurant but Sensei who proceeded to approach our table and say hello to Tess and Tom - it was an effective way of ending the argument!
We had a relatively quiet weekend which was lovely - a slow start on Saturday followed by a bike ride in Manly which ended up with an impromptu lunch at Manly Phoenix, a favourite of ours for dim sum. In the evening we went round to the Reids for dinner which was brought to a swift end when both Tess and Olivia went into melt down! Another quiet day on Sunday doing chores around the house and then Rob, Claire and Claire's parents and sister came round for an early dinner. As they were leaving we were talking about the possums in the tree outside our house and Nicky, Claire's sister, had just said she had never seen one when Rob pointed one out on the telephone wires which caused great excitement!
