We had a dramatic start to the weekend with Jamo pulling a hamstring whilst steering the boat in the final twilight of the season. It was supposed to be a nice surprise for Jamo to steer for the race because it's the last twilight he'll be doing for a while because of the move to Melbourne but what was supposed to be an enjoyable sail turned into a very painful one further compounded by an extremely unsympathetic crew - "who on earth pulls their hamstring whilst sailing" and other helpful comments. Jamo ended up staying the night at ours because he didn't dare risk riding his motorbike home and Jules took him home in the car the following morning.
After a long dry stretch the rain has started and our pool, which was newly lined during the week, has been half filled by rainwater saving us a small fortune in water charges. Unfortunately we've discovered a number of leaks with one inside my car (I get a little shower every time I go round a corner!) and the other from the skylight in the kitchen - "is there supposed to be lots of water on the kitchen floor?" Tom announced early Sunday morning which had the two of us leaping out of bed!
Ken and Emma held a very moving Naming Ceremony for Jack on Saturday lunchtime followed by a yummy lunch, a very pleasant way to spend a rainy Saturday afternoon. In the morning Robert phoned me to find out what I was doing and ended up coming round and helping me cook a curry. We haven't seen each other much recently and it was great to catch up so I hope we do it again soon.
We devoted Sunday to getting the house ready for Grandpa Mark's visit. We hired a trailer in the pouring rain to take the old pool liner and other rubbish to the tip but very annoyingly forgot to take the old bbq - don't you just hate that! Tess took pity on us hard workers and made pizza dough all by herself so that we could have pizza for lunch - it was delicious!
