Royal Wedding Fever

I couldn't write this weeks blog without a little commentary on the wedding of Will and Kate which I thought was fabulous.  We watched it at the Mennie's house so I had a fellow fashion commentator (I was looking for inspiration for Nate & Sarah's wedding later this year and Lisa is my chief fashion advisor) and I'm not ashamed to admit that I cried most of the way through the wedding.  It was all so lovely and normal (well, as normal as it could be given the circumstances) and the bride and groom both looked stunning and, more importantly, very happy.

The kids started back at school on Thursday - Tess was extremely excited about going back and Tom complained bitterly but was fine once he got there.  I was quite grateful to have Friday back to myself especially as I had a very exciting new kitchen gadget to play with - a 5 in 1 multi-cooker: slow cooker, pressure cooker, steamer, rice cooker and soup maker - who would have thought it was possible to put all those functions into 1 item??!!  So far I've made a bolognaise and a duck ragu but we haven't actually tasted either yet so I can't give a verdict.

Tess had a French Open tennis tournament on Sunday morning.  It's not something I would normally put her down for but the Reid's do a lot of this type of thing with James and I thought it might be a good introduction and fun given that Olivia was doing it too.  Tess was unimpressed about going but once she was there she had a lovely time - the sun shone and it was a surprisingly pleasant morning.  I'm not sure the standard of tennis was up to much but it taught them a bit about how to play a game and the basic rules.

The tennis stars!
Meanwhile, Jules took Tom surfing (the obsession continues!) and although the water is still very warm he put Tom into Tess' wetsuit so that he could stay in for longer - after initial disgust at the wetsuit Tom loved it as it further helped in his cause to prove he is closely related to the seal family.  The waves were pretty big and the boys had a fantastic time.

Ready....

Steady.....

Fall off!!
