Scotland Island shenanigans

It finally stopped raining this week and so we were up nice and early on Saturday morning for sport.  First stop netball where Tess tried out wing defence and then goal shooter and although her team lost they did a brilliant job particularly in the second half where they only allowed one goal against them.  We then swung past Robert's place to pick him up and bring him back to ours for a cup of tea before all heading off to watch Tom play soccer.  His team did well and for the first time Tom scored a goal (we won't mention the fact that he only had to kick the ball 3cm over the net line!).  They were playing on pitches down by Spit bridge and with the sun shining it was a glorious location.

In the afternoon we headed over to Scotland Island along with the Diggins.  We decided to take the ferry rather than our boat so that we didn't have to worry about finding somewhere to moor it.  We arrived at about 4pm and all got stuck in fairly quickly to the festivities.  The children disappeared playing in the chook yard, running around the garden, playing hide and seek and generally being fantastic (ie we didn't see them!).  John cooked the most amazing chicken in the weber and after dinner, finding ourselves fairly well lubricated, we took it in turns to choose our favourite songs and dance around the kitchen.  The big boys were on particularly fine form with the help of some chocolate hearts until they realised that the hearts didn't mix all that well with red wine at which point it was bedtime for everyone.  In the middle of the night we had a powercut which lasted until about 10.30 the following morning.  You wouldn't think a power cut would be a big thing but all the water and toilets are powered by pumps which obviously didn't work and all the kitchen appliances are electric so breakfast was beginning to look unlikely.  Fortunately we were able to boil water for tea and cook our bacon and eggs on the bbq as we were in desperate need of both!
Not pretty....!

Once it had warmed up sufficiently the kids went swimming around the jetty and then decided to do some fishing.  Tess threw in her first line and came up with a beautiful snapper - our only catch of the day.
