Poppies

Poppies

It felt like Christmas this week because we finally received a piece of artwork that we commissioned when we were up in the Hunter with Dad in April.  The piece arrived at work and I had the challenge of getting it into my car, the packaging was 120x130cm, and I just managed to squeeze it in.  Jules was in SA this week so once I got it home I let it sit in it's packaging for a grand unveiling on Friday evening.  Once unpacked we were both so excited as it's even better than we had imagined - and it's huge!

Saturday morning we were up bright and early for soccer - Tom scored a goal again and again was trying to work out on his fingers how many goals he's scored this season so that he could show the other side!!  After soccer we came home and decided where to hang our new painting - we've put it in the place of the mirror above the stairwell and it's fantastic as it fills the space much better and is very eye-catching due to the vibrant colours.  The W-Ms came round for dinner in the evening and we had a lovely time.  The kids were amazing and instead of watching a movie spent all their time playing the playstation fairly equitably with the exception of Tom who threw a wobbly every time someone beat him!

Rob & Tom playing Fragger!
The weather was absolutely glorious on Sunday and Jules had the second winter race with his team comprised of Robert, Claire, Andrew and Debs.  The planets all aligned and they had a very convincing win coming in about 10 minutes before the next boat!  Robert and Claire came round for dinner after the race and I tested myself by cooking roast potatoes.  You may remember that Robert was extremely rude about my roast potatoes at Christmas and I vowed never to cook them again but obviously there was no way I could maintain that restriction so I put a huge amount of effort into them and I think they came out ok - no-one would dare to say otherwise!!  What was a hit was the cheese souffle and the chocolate and chestnut cake which literally melted in our mouths.  Notice Robert's sunburned face in the photo - yes it was that warm today!!
