Gooooooooooaaaaaaaallllllssssss!!!!

Happy penguins!

Tom leaving Uncle Robert for dust!

We've had the most amazing weather with temperatures in the low 20s and clear blue skies every day.  I've been enjoying basking in the sun inside our house wearing just a singlet and pretending it's summer.  The good weather has been kind on Saturday morning sport and there was less grumbling at having to get out of bed at 6.30 and stand enthusiastically on the sidelines.  Tess scored a goal against a very strong team which in our minds made our team the winners of the match.  Tom also scored a goal, which he had predicted the day before, watched by Uncle Robert and Jasmyn the Nanny/Coach.

Tom had a birthday party where we was taken to play ten-pin bowling which apparently he won.  Without Tom around the rest of us went down to the boat so that Jules could do some maintenance, there were barnacles growing on the keel which may have slowed down the boat by at least a tenth of a millisecond so needed to be scrubbed off, and Tess and I went on a walk to take photos (we saw a spider eating a fly!) and find a coffee/ice cream which we drank/ate sitting on rocks watching the tide coming in.  We had a grown up evening with dinner at Manly Pavilion with the Mennies.

The first race of the winter series was on Sunday with Oka in the first division with all the big boats.  Jules had a stellar crew in Debs, Rob and Craig and they did really well.  Meanwhile, Lisa and I took the kids to the zoo where they had a ball running around like lunatics.  During the seal show Tom turned to us and in all seriousness said "I need to pay attention because I'll be doing this soon".  He genuinely thinks he's related to the seals and didn't understand why I wouldn't let him go swimming so that he could show the others his porpoising!
