Tess had 3 days of sailing school but only went to 2 because "may I just remind you it wasn't my idea, daddy wanted me to do it and I don't like it" which was a real shame because she was incredibly animated when she told us about her days and clearly learnt so much. Perhaps I should have forced her to go on the last day but it's so tricky - I don't want to risk putting her off for life. In the meantime Tom went to surf school - finally he's found a school that he really loves!!! He managed to stand up on the board and he demonstrated 100% concentration during the briefings.

The weather was beautiful so I borrowed Emma's telescopic secateurs and set to work on the bamboo, followed by the camellia, followed by the tree that overhangs the pool. There is something so satisfying about doing a really big hack in the garden. Whilst I was by the pool I looked down and noticed we had a special visitor but a) I wasn't sure he wanted to be in the pool and b) I wasn't sure how he was going to get out so I called for the kids and Tess came to the rescue with the pool net. He didn't seem too phased by his little dip and sat in the sun to dry out whilst the kids played close to him.

We're all packed and ready to go. It's 7.20pm so we'll be going to bed soon in preparation for the big drive - approximately 9 hours if we're lucky. The weather forecast is fairly rubbish so we've packed lots of books, games and craft and all our wetsuits!

Wow - 9 hours. I still remember my drive to Brisbane with the girls, the Christmas before last. I took 3 days (and 3 nights in fab hotels). The money I spent on the DVD players (having admired yours longingly when we camped at Gerroa) were worth every penny. Every single penny. Drive safe. xxx
