I took the kids, together with Hunter and Fletcher, to the movies on Saturday to escape the torrential rain. We walked into the theatre to discover one elderly lady sitting reading her kindle and the curtains closed over the screen. There was a lot of kerfuffle over goodie bags, booster seats, opening of crisp packets and drink bottles and who wanted to sit next to who. During that period a few more elderly ladies entered the theatre and took their seats. I did give some brief consideration to why these ladies would be interested in watching "Wreck-it Ralph" but was distracted by the musical chairs going on next to me. The film was scheduled to being at 10.10am. At 10.20am Hunter turned to me and asked me when the movie was going to start. I began to get an uncomfortable feeling as the evidence of elderly ladies and no sign of even the trailers starting began to work through my mind. The next minute I was hustling the kids out of the theatre, apologising to the elderly ladies, and rushing into the cinema next door where "Wreck-it Ralph" had already started. It has been suggested that this "mis-hap" may have something to do with the colour of my hair.

See that blonde head? It's mine.
The kids started back at school on Wednesday and eventually found out who their teachers would be on Friday morning. They are both in composite classes which means a class made up of children from 2 different year groups. Tess is in a 4/5 composite (she's year 4) and Tom is in a 1/2 composite (he's year 2). The great thing about composites is that you tend to get the really good teachers because you need to be pretty organised to teach both levels. The bad thing about composites is that you're with a much smaller number of your peers. Overall I am thrilled with the teachers and the kids in the classes, Tess is devastated she's not with any of her besties and Tom is indifferent because regardless of which class he's in it's still school.
