Dad visits

Band rehearsal on a Friday morning at school
Tess in band uniform - they played at assembly
Dad arrived last Thursday just before one of our busiest weekends of the year.  My friend Bec and I are band co-ordinators for Senior Band which meant we were on duty for the entire band camp weekend.  Tess doesn't do sleepovers but was desperate to stay at camp so we solved that problem by me sleeping over too - it was great but when you're responsible for 70 children overnight you're not allowed to drink alcohol and you don't get a huge amount of sleep as they mess around/struggle with homesickness/wake up very early etc!  I was a wreck come Sunday afternoon and had a large glass of wine ready and waiting for me when I got home.

Before the craziness of the weekend Robert took Friday off work and the three of us headed to Ormeggio for a civilised lunch.

Saturday was the start of the winter sports season and Tom was up early for his first rugby game.  We've now got him a head guard as well as a mouth guard which we're hoping will give him a little more confidence in the tackles.

Tom's biggest obsession continues to be surfing and he persuaded Jules, Dad and Robert to take him down three times on Saturday and twice on Sunday.  The big boys were exhausted!!

On Monday Jules and I, through KPMG, had a private viewing of the Archibald which is known as the "Face that stops a Nation".  Dad was left in charge of the children and he did a brilliant job.  Tess' class won the right to watch a Drive-in Movie which involves them decorating a big box as a car which they sit in whilst watching a movie at school.  Craft is not my strong point, mainly because of the mess involved, but Dad did a great job finding paints, brushes and allowing Tess with the help of Olivia and Tom to make a whole load of mess and then clearing it up afterwards!!!

I ordered myself some Hunter wellies, making the most of the good exchange rate, which Dad brought over from the UK.  They are so fabulous that I had to wear them to school on Friday regardless of the fact that there was not a cloud in the sky.  I eventually took them off at about 10am when I realised that 25 degrees is not a practical temperature for wellies!
