Get back on your horse Tom!

We've just come back from a fab 4 days at Euroka Homestead in the Megalong Valley with the Mennies.  We were there last October staying in the Cottage but got upgraded to the much larger Homestead this time.  The weather was unbelievable and we spent most of our time outdoors soaking up the amazing countryside.

Lisa, Hunter, Tess, Tom and myself went horse-riding one afternoon.  Tom was on a beautiful grey called Eddie and they were getting along just fine except that Eddie was a little lazy and liked lagging behind.  Tom was getting a bit fed up with him so decided to try giving him a kick.  This had the desired effect as Eddie started trotting to catch up with the rest of us.  Unfortunately Tom lost one of his stirrups and slowly but surely started slipping off his saddle until he landed with a bump to his head on the ground.  He was shocked and cried a little but then, bless his heart, he picked himself up and got straight back on his horse - what a legend!!

We paid another visit to the Jenolan Caves, this time doing the Diamond Cave which allowed us to see the underground river.  Our tour guide, Michael, was pretty special.  He clearly fancied himself as a bit of a photographer and spent most of his time helping the people in our party take photos rather than telling us anything about the caves.

We stopped at the New Ivanhoe Hotel in Blackheath for Denise's famous pies which were truly exceptional.  I'm sorry that I don't have a photo but it wouldn't have done them justice - stop there when you next pass through Blackheath.

The big boys found a fire pit outside the front of the house and built huge fires each evening.

We found a picnic table which we moved to the perfect sun trap round the side of the house and spent hours there reading the papers.

The kids loved the wide open spaces and spent hours running around playing "Minecraft" and "Avatar".

We went to the Ugg Boot shop on the way up and Tom persuaded us to buy him an Akubra.  It's pretty cool and he wore it all the time.

Back at home Roofer was enjoying a tour of the back fence.  Jules is close to taking a leaf from Spencer's book and employing Tom's nerf gun!
