Holiday activities

With the kids on school holidays Dad and I planned an excursion into the City to see a story-telling at the Art Gallery of NSW.  We took a bus and the ferry and then walked slowly through the Botanical Gardens.  In the Herb Garden we came across a group of art students who were on their own excursion.  Tess persuaded one of them to draw her a picture:
I was particularly impressed with the inscription: Dear Tess, Do home work, eat healthy food and life will be easy.
Story telling
We wanted to show the kids round the Archibald Exhibition but after looking round the Australian section, both historical and contemporary with some impressive names and works, they decided they'd had enough and there were quite a few security guards looking nervous as they whizzed around on their Heelys so we decided to call it quits.

Robert took the day off work on Tuesday and after a few rain storms in the morning it cleared sufficiently for us to go on a bush walk.

After a stunning morning walk down at Manly on Wednesday we took Dad to the airport and cheered ourselves up afterwards with a McDonalds!!
Tess & Tom on the Scotland Island ferry

On Friday we took the ferry over to Scotland Island for the day.  It's been a while since we visited the Rumbolds and the kids had a wonderful time running all round the island and the house whilst Leanne and I sat drinking tea, solving the problems of the world and moving furniture which is a particularly favourite pastime of ours and one that is sadly not shared by our husbands!

We opted for a quiet weekend which was partially enforced by the torrential rain all day Saturday.  The sun was shining on Sunday - no prizes for guessing what Tom persuaded us to do.
