Birthday celebrations

It was my birthday last week and I was woken to find some beautiful cards and a present from Jules and the kids.

Tom and Jules were particularly interested in the present (grinning like Cheshire cats!) which was a GoPro - one of those tiny, completely indestructible cameras.  When I suggested that perhaps there was a certain amount of self-interest in this present Jules blamed it firmly on Julia who had suggested it might be useful for the SBox.

To celebrate my birthday I had 2 birthday lunches with girlfriends and a birthday dinner with Jules, the kids and Robert.  It was fantastic to feel so spoilt.

On Saturday Tom and Jules spent a very happy couple of hours playing with the GoPro in the surf (see what I mean!!!) and it is a truly amazing piece of technology.  The picture quality is amazing and you can completely control the camera using your iPhone and even see what it's filming because the camera itself doesn't have an LCD panel.  I can see we'll all be having fun with it in the future.

Tom's in the middle of the 3 boys bending over for the scrum
Tom had his first rugby game of the season.  Because he is one of the bigger boys he's been chosen to be in the scrum and the picture above shows him being taught what to do as hooker.  Thank goodness for headgear!!

Accepting our prizes from Scott the comp organiser

This term I started playing a tennis competition on Tuesdays with my friend Bernadette.  We spent last year doing squads together so doing a comp was a natural progression.  We've been undefeated the entire term and went on to win the final which means we'll be moving up to Division 2 next term.  It's been such good fun, we've met loads of lovely women and our tennis has improved considerably.  And just in case you're worried I'm getting big headed I also play comp on a Friday with another friend of mine, Kate.  We're second to bottom of the table in division 3 - luckily that's the bottom division so at least we can't be moved down!!
