This is it. After months of preparation I am heading off tomorrow on my great big adventure. I am very very excited but also nervous about leaving the children, in particular Tess who doesn't cope very well when I'm not around. She has her first piano exam tomorrow so the timing's not great but her teacher will take her and I'm sure it will all be fine.
Scott, Robyn, Me, Kate, Mike, Trudie
The kids all playing cards together - just gorgeous!
Jules, John and Andrew were sailing today but that didn't stop Kate from organising a farewell lunch with Trudie, Sheldon, Robyn, Scott, Mike and all the children. It was a glorious day and we sat outside enjoying the sun. Although Bec was away (and greatly missed by us all) she organised a lovely gift for me with lots of little things that I might need on the rally including the charming diamante keyring shown above!
This is all I'm taking - the top bag is my tent
Everyone's response to me doing the rally has been amazing and I have received incredible emails and had wonderful conversations with people about the loved ones they've lost or who are currently fighting cancer. I am now looking forward to having some time for reflection, to think about my mother and the life she led, and the other friends and family I know or have been told about. I wouldn't be doing the rally if it wasn't for Jules giving me the push I needed. It was very tempting for me to say I couldn't possibly go away for 2 weeks but he was adamant that everything would be ok and it will be - not without significant help from John of course! I am so grateful to Jules for supporting me and allowing me to have this amazing adventure.
