On Wednesday during the day Tess decided to have a nice long bath to see if some steam would stop the endless drip of her nose. After she'd soaked for a good 45 mins I went into the bathroom with some clean pyjamas and closed the door behind me to keep in the warm air. When I tried to leave the bathroom I discovered that the handle didn't work. I decided that the only thing to do was to totally remove the handle and see what was going on. I pulled apart a pair of nail clippers and fashioned myself a screw driver which worked very well until I discovered that because of the locking mechanism I couldn't take the handle off completely. Tess offered to climb out of the bathroom window but on opening it we discovered that a) it was too high up and b) the window opening wasn't actually big enough. I tried shouting out of the window but because of the small opening the shouting just echoed back inside the bathroom so I grabbed a white flannel and waved it out of the window whilst shouting. After about 30 mins a nice young girl came jogging past - I upped my shouting and waved frantically until I got her attention and asked her to rescue us from the bathroom - thank goodness our front door is generally unlocked and so anyone can come in. The moment we were free I phoned the builder who came round the next day and put a new handle on the door.
The rain has continued all week and our local park is a beautiful muddy puddle which Tom and his mate Josh thoroughly enjoyed on Sunday afternoon. Tom's t-shirt used to be a lovely white colour.......
Caroline and Andrew on Oka
Robert's girlfriend, Caroline, arrived from the UK on Saturday morning to pouring rain and cold temperatures. The skies cleared for a few hours on Sunday and they made the most of it by going for a sail on Okavango Delta. They were hoping to see some whales but managed a seal instead.
