End of winter season sport

I know I shouldn't but I can't help cheering when the winter sport season comes to an end.  I love the strong sport culture here in Australia but getting up at 7am every single Saturday for about 5 months in a row gets a little tiring particularly if you're prone to a few glasses of champs on a Friday night!  Netball finished a couple of weeks ago because sadly Tess' team didn't qualify for the finals this year and Tom had his last game of rugby on Saturday.  It was a cracker of a game and he really put himself on the line in terms of his tackling something which he is often a little tentative about.

Custard continues with his thieving ways.  This week it was a quarter of a caramel cake, 2 bread rolls and a dozen eggs.  Yes, the after effects of the eggs were nasty!!

On Friday night we had 7 children over for a sleepover which if I'd been on the game I would have turned into Tess' birthday party.  The 5 girls slept in the tent set up in the playroom downstairs and the boys slept in Tom's room.  We had the Rivers over for dinner and at what I thought was 9.15 I went downstairs to tell the girls it was time to quieten down only to discover that it was actually 11.15.  I think they were glad of an excuse to go to sleep as they did so immediately!

On Sunday we had a rare day of sunshine so Tom and Jules decided to go for a bike ride down to Manly.  In typical Tom fashion the moment he saw the surf he insisted they needed to be surfing instead so he forced Jules to immediately turn round and cycle back home to get the boards.  They were great conditions and it was lovely to sit on the beach and enjoy the sunshine - something we haven't been able to do in what seems like a very long time (probably about 3 weeks).
