More tales of Custard

On Tuesday morning Custard and I went up to the park at 6am for his morning walk.  Within minutes of us arriving he disappeared into the bushes and came out with a very dead possum - literally skin and bones, no flesh - which he proceeded to devour.  I'm getting used to this so I turned a blind eye and we continued wandering around the park.  About 10 minutes later he once again disappeared into the bushes but this time he came out with a dead and very smelly rabbit.  There was lots of meat on this one and Custard was carrying it around proudly in his mouth.  I tried shouting at him, friends tried giving him treats, I tried getting his lead on so I could drag him away but all to no avail.  If I came too close he'd growl at me and if I ignored his growls he'd run away with the rabbit.  It became apparent that my only option was to wait until he'd eaten the whole rabbit.  Since then I have not let him off the lead which is not fun for him or for me - someone suggested getting him a muzzle and I have to say it's tempting.

The school Concert Band, which Tess is part of, had the opportunity to play for the public at Warringah Mall on Wednesday lunchtime.  It was sweltering and the poor children all looked very hot and bothered in their long black trousers but they managed to play 6 pieces and we thought they were brilliant.

The kids had sailing again on Saturday.  We're beginning to think they might never be allowed to give it up because whilst they sail the parents, who are a particularly lovely bunch, hang out together drinking coffee and idly chatting whilst occasionally watching what the kids are doing.  It's such a brilliant start to the weekend.

Tom and Tess happy to sail together
 Custard enjoyed the sailing too
Don't they look small in the big ocean

Tom is really enjoying his futsal games on a Thursday afternoon.  This week they played a team called "Soccer de Brasil" which, we luckily found out before the game, has beaten every other team by a country mile.  The manager sent round a very comprehensive email discussing tactics and it was decided that after Tom's stellar performance in goal last week he should have another go.  The other teams ball skills and positioning on the court were second to none and the ball was constantly down by the goal.  Tom did an amazing job and although our team lost 17-0 he probably saved about 20 goals.

On Saturday night we went round to Victoria and Simon's place to catch up with John and Olive Chittock, very old friends of John and Rae's.  Tom does like getting dressed up for dinner.
