On Sunday Tess had her last Band Festival as part of the school Concert Band.
Those who know me well know how important music is to me and how proud I am of the children for both playing 2 instruments at an impressive level. Tom took to the saxophone like a duck to water but over the past 3 months he started complaining bitterly about it, he stopped practising as much and we had massive fights each Wednesday and Friday morning about going to band. After much angst and endless conversations with Jules we agreed to let him leave band on the condition that he would continue with the saxophone. We also changed saxophone tutor to see if a change of scenery might help too. It's still early days and I'm still getting a little bit of resistance but life is calmer not having a stand up fight twice a week. Tom claims he would like to start learning the trombone instead but fingers crossed he'll come round to the saxophone again!
Tess' netball team had their semi-final game on Saturday. It was 25C and the girls were playing at midday so it was very hot for them. Sadly they lost their game in the last quarter after leading comfortably for the first three with a final score of 21-23. I take responsibility because I should have swapped around some players but I was very conscious about being fair and giving the girls equal court time. For our game next week I'm going to be a little bit more focused on ensuring that we get a win.
