Birthday weekend

I have just had a brilliant birthday weekend.  It started on Friday with a girls lunch at Hugo's.  Sadly we forgot to take a photo of all of us but we did manage one of those who were naughty enough to have an espresso martini at lunch time!!  And just look at the bag that they gave me - I have been lusting after one of those for at least 6 months - it is just gorgeous and I am very very spoilt.

On Saturday morning Tom competed in the QBC surf competition.  The waves were lovely and he surfed well coming 2nd in the final - there were only 2 in the final but we'll ignore that part 😂

In the afternoon I persuaded Jules to go furniture shopping as we've talked about buying a new dining room table for ages.  We headed to Alexandria which is quite trendy and had a lovely time wandering around the shops and stopping at The Grounds for a spot of lunch.  We even managed to find a table, chairs and new bar stools that we both really liked - seriously the best birthday present.

On Saturday evening Tom had his first swim meet.  It almost ended as quickly as it started because it transpired that I had failed to properly enter him into any of the events.  We were very lucky that the man running the meet was incredibly patient and kind and entered Tom into all the events he wanted to compete in.  Tom swam well and now has official swim times for all his strokes should he wish to compete in swimming competitions.

Tom was quite tired when he got home from the meet

The clocks changed on Sunday morning so we got an extra hour in bed which was another excellent present!  After opening cards, 2 fabulous ones as always from the kids, we went to Jellyfish for breakfast because I am addicted to their pancakes and they were just as good as expected.  We had a quiet day pottering around the house which is really my favourite kind especially when the others potter with me.  In the evening we went out to dinner at Sale Pepe which is a tiny hole-in-the-wall pizza place in Seaforth that always makes me feel like I'm in Italy.
 Birthday flowers - magnificent!
