Tess' basketball team had a nail biting game on Saturday morning but emerged the victors. Tom had the QBC surf competition and once again came 2nd. The waves were 4-5 ft with a lot of water moving around and his swimming training again proved useful in helping him to punch through the waves and get out the back.
It looks cold doesn't it!
In the afternoon we all went to watch the Marlins play the Rats at Manly Oval. It's usually a very pleasant way to spend the afternoon sitting in the sunshine but we had rain and got wet! Afterwards 21 of us went to a nearby Mexican for dinner which was chaotic but fun.

On Sunday we found out that Tom was awarded the Gold Medal for Surf Life Saving in his age group by his nipper trainers. It is such an amazing achievement for him and is testament to his sunny demeanour and team skills. He's probably placed around 5th ability-wise in his age group but he always tries his hardest and encourages all those around him. Nippers has not always been a smooth path and he has regularly wanted to give it up but I think we're beginning to turn a corner and it will be interesting to see how he gets on next year.
