Tess starts AFL

So I'd like to be able to tell you what AFL stands for but I have no idea.  It appears to be a cross between rugby league and rugby union but with very few rules.  Kicking is key and the ball bounces unpredictably due to it's oval shape.  You score by kicking the ball between 2 of 4 posts.  It is the fastest growing sport for women in Australia and is fantastic as it involves lots of running and a fair bit of aggression.  Tess, with her long legs, height and sprinting abilities, might end up being quite good at it.  She was very nervous to start with but ended up enjoying herself enormously.  I am very grateful to her sports master who talked her into it!

Tom had the final of the Junior School Talent Quest competition on Friday and managed to win it with a fantastic rendition of Georgia by Vance Joy.  He apparently had 3 teachers in tears and they were all congratulating me on his talent when I picked him up that afternoon from school!

We hosted a curry night on Saturday night for the Christensens, Rivers and Lynches.  I made everything from scratch including all the curry pastes (I made 3 curries) and I wowed everyone with my naan bread making skills.  It was all thanks to my Thermomix which I love a little more every day!
The younger girls had a dance competition hence the make-up
We caught up with the Wakes-Millers the other day and were amazed to see how close in height Tess and Arthur are.  I measured Tess when we got home and she is 5'9" with size 41 shoes.  We think it's unlikely that she'll grow any taller now and I have a very sore neck from looking up at her!
